About Bruichladdich

Located on Islay opposite the distillery of the same name, this pier is operated commercially by the local Council for the refuelling of tankers. In January 2004 the Council’s proposal to upgrade and extend Bruichladdich Pier received planning approval. The planning consent is for the construction of eight berthing and mooring dolphins and associated walkways in order to accommodate larger double hulled coastal tankers which cannot safely berth at the existing pier.

The existing pier at Bruichladdich can only accommodate the smaller single hulled tankers, and upgrading the berthing arrangements is required to allow the larger double hulled tankers safe access to the pier.
